New games abound!

I walked into ETA games shop today at the Mall and lo and behold, new releases were abound~! First up is the Guitar Hero on Tour for the Nintendo DS ($105), Space Invaders Extreme for the PSP ($50) and Battlefield: Bad Company (PS3) are on sale as of today.

The reviews for the games can be found here, here and here respectively.

One thing to note though, ETA has two versions of Battlefield: Bad Company available in their stores, The gold edition ($108) and normal casing ($103).

However, with Sony shutting down their Playstation Network for the next hours or so, B:BC online gaming will have to wait for a bit.

Happy hunting!

update: the PS network is on!

BioShock 3

With its unsurprising PS3 announcement, BioShock is set to get two more sequels. Not only will there be a BioShock 2, a third one is in plans to make this series a trilogy.

This is not surprising seeing how successful this game is on the xbox360 and the achievements it has garnered since released. The movie is also in the works, hoping that it will release simultaneously with BioShock 2.

Anyone picking this up for the PS3 extra contents?

Master Chief comes to PS3

Been dreaming for the Master Chief to be on your PS3? Well, that probably won't come true in a Halo kind of way but you get to see the Master Chief himself in an FPS via UTIII mod. That's right, it took only a matter of time until someone created the green suited guy and made it playable in your UTIII. You can view a video of it and download other characters like Cloud, Spawn and Gears of War characters for your UTIII here. Have fun!

BioShock, 12 nominations

BioShock is a game that I have to say is nothing like any other FPS games I've ever played. And in fact, it seems like I'm not the only one who thinks so. The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences has nominated BioShock in 12 interactive achievement awards and apparently that's more than any other games that have been nominated in the past.

So if you haven't had a piece of BioShock, you should try it now.

Resistance 2, 60 players

Word has been out and around that Game Informer has world exclusive info on Resistance 2, the first ever news on the upcoming sequel to the PS3's launch title. A lot of information has been spreading around on the Internet and if you have any, please leave a comment and share with us. I haven't seen the magazine myself. But I'll share what I've found out so far.

Resistance 2 aims to have a lot of online support. It has two story modes, the usual single player and a co-op mode which will support two player offline and eight online campaign. Outside the campaign modes, online multiplayer will support up to 60 players per server (and no, that's no typo), beating Warhawk as the most player per server. In terms of the story mode, it's not clear whether they will have two separate stories for single player and co-op modes but hopefully, they will.

Resistance 2 is aiming for an Autumn 2008 release date.

UTIII 3rd Person Mod

I've always wondered when mods will start to pour out for the PS3 version of UTIII. And well, now a first user-released UTIII mod is here and it changes your FPS to a 3rd person. Not a big fan of FPS because it makes you feel nauseous but you want to play UTIII? Well, here's your wish come true! Click here to download the mod and instructions on how to install it on your PS3.

Halo 3 Hype Hoedown

Halo 3 is coming and the world will be a better place. Cancer will be cured. A new president will be elected. Or at least that's what those guys at Sarcastic Gamer believe. Check out this funny song.

Halo 3 Goes NASCAR

Check it out! Halo 3 will go NASCAR. Yes, that race where cars just go round and round in circles for long hours. God knows why people are into it. Anyway, a Halo 3 branded NASCAR will be racing on the track on September 23rd by some dude who at this moment isn't really that important to us Bruneians to begin with anyway. But the idea of a Halo 3 car zooming around sounds kinda cool. No? Guess not. I would rather much see an army truck or helicopter with a Halo 3 brand on it. Well, who knows?

13 Minutes of FarCry

I wasn't big on FarCry when it came out. I didn't like the change of environment where it took the FPS genre then. Then, a lot of shooters started to follow its direction. Still not my favourite, still love war shooters, but to this day, I've learned to try new things in gaming. I mean, Oblivion has obviously become an all time favourite game.

Anyway, went to dig out old liepzig news and totally missed out on this 13 minutes video of FarCry 2.

All Unreal

Have you heard of Unreal Tournament? Okay, I'm kidding. Who hasn't. Anyway, I don't know if you guys keep up but UT3 has updated their website with hi-res screens and all the videos you need to know about the game. I suggest you check it out if you are an FPS fan. And believe me, if you are, you'd have played UT. And checked out the developers walkthrough video I posted awhile back.

Oh, I also uploaded 28 screens here.

Towards A Destructive Life

Destructible environments was the appeal to Black when it came out for the PS2 and Xbox then. I never played the PS2 version since I opted for the best, so I had my hands on the Xbox game. It was great. I loved it. Combine that with an all time favourite world war shooter of mine, Battlefield, it just screams the now classic GO GO GO!!!

Battlefield: Bad Company, towards a destructive life. Check out the developers walkthroughs.

UT3

Unreal Tournament 3 is shaping up to be better than most FPS. They've got some creative vehicles and weapons shown. Check out the developers game walkthrough below.

Halo 3 is Gold

Halo 3 has gone gold! The wait is almost over. Now all we have to do is wait the release in September. Of course, by 'we' I meant you people with the 360s. I, on the other hand, am thinking of getting myself a new 360. But with Warhawk getting some good press and a heck of a lot of addicted players, plus with Heavenly Sword and Lair releasing in September as well, should I be investing in another 360?

We'll see. I can wait for Halo. As much as I used to be in love with it, it's just that. Used to. I realised I loved Battlefield over Halo when I started playing Battlefield a few years back. Warhawk gives that same Battlefield feeling.

Anyway, Halo 3. Will it live up to its hype?

From Quake and Doom comes Rage

I don't know what's wrong with gamespot today. I've been trying to watch this video of Idtech's debut engine and I only get half of it streamed. I wanted to watch it fully before I embed it here but anyway, I hope you guys have a better luck.

Those people in id, the makers of doom and quake, showed off a tech demo called id tech 5 through their newly debuted game called Rage. Rage is currently designed simultaneously for PC, Mac, 360 and the PS3 and it will use id's second generation of 'Megatexture' technology - which will eat up at least 20gigs of uncompressed texture. Thus, it is obvious that it will take up two dvds on all platforms except ofcourse for the blu-ray in the PS3.

The game will apparently boast 20hours of gameplay, id style, in the one player campaign mode. Id is also aiming at a Teen rating game compared to their Doom and Quake series.

The game will be set on future Earth after a comet heavily hits the planet and brings with it (guess what?) enemy monsters. So have fun fragging those.

Mouse and Keyboard for UT3

With the PS3 supporting usb mouse and keyboard, a lot of gamers, mostly those who migrated from PC, have asked for keyboard and mouse support in FPS games. I'm sure that most of you have heard of Unreal Tournament 3 being made for the PS3. After reading a thread posted on the UT3 forum, it has been confirmed that UT3 will indeed support mouse and keyboard. So those of you who do not have the intelligence to hold and aim using a console controller should rejoice and let go of your breath as I doubt this will be the last game that will support them.

4 Player Halo Co-op

I love multiplayer co-op in FPS. They make a dull campaign fun. Which was the only reason I played the main story of Halo 2 over and over. Co-op is fun. It's different from fragging each other in multiplayer. Which is why I'm so gonna love the up-coming Halo 3 as apparently, a 4-player co-op via link or xbox live will be available.

Not all will be playing as the big man, Master Chief. Apparently, Elites have become rather nice to humanity. They will serve as Master Chief's partner in co-op with an Arbiter as the second player and two newly created Elites as player 3 and 4. Oh how I miss Halo now.

Also, check out the music section for a Halo 3 theme if you haven't.

KillZone 2 Gameplay Vid

Hey, sorry - been busy with work. Here's a KillZone 2 gameplay vid from Gametrailers. This game is starting to make me want it even more. Check out all the things that's happening in the environment. Guns everywhere, explosions, falling debris, dirt, lightning, fire - this is one hell of a battleground.

Killzone 2 HD impressions

Just got the time to watch that Killzone 2 trailer I downloaded off the PS-Store. Spent a good 15 mins replaying it over and over, at times in slow-mo. It's interesting the detail you miss when watching it at normal speed.

I was studying the video, mostly because I was a bit disappointed (even though I knew it was inevitable) with the fact that this Killzone 2 trailer did not look as good as last year's. If the first one was never shown, this one would have impressed. But nevertheless, Killzone's graphic still catches the eye.

Forget about details of the graphics and all, I'm sure you've read it everywhere by now. What I want to point out is the weather effect in the trailer and how it seems to effect the surrounding. Wires sway as the wind blows, city lights up for a milisecond as lightning strikes and antennas make noises due to the storm.

Besides the weather, the other thing that impresses me is the blood effect. As enemies are shot, blood don't just spray. It seems like it depends on the damage. The more you shoot, the more the blood spreads. Shoot a little, a little blood comes out. Hell, the blood looks good!

I hope this game won't disappoint. Now, I'm contemplating whether I should go and download nucleus or not.

That Halo 3 Sound

Just thought I'd let you guys know (especially those who are visiting brugamers.com) that Loco6669SatanZ (bloody hell man, that's one long nick) uploaded the Halo 3 background theme I wanted from the latest Halo 3 trailer. If you're interested, go head over to the music page here to download it.

Halo 3 : Gravity Hammer

Well, well, well - this is interesting. Check out what I found at HaloPedia. Gravity hammer for Halo 3. Seriously, I want the Elite version now!
