The Force in Motion
Just to add to the news on the lightsaber being in Soul Calibur IV, I just bumped into a video of Darth Vader and Yoda in action in Soul Calibur. Check it out.
CES08: That Extra Guitar
I've been needing an extra guitar for Rock Band and the fact that GHIII's guitar doesn't work is annoying the hell out of me. Why Activision and Harmonix aren't co-operating is a world's mystery at the moment. And with no standalone guitar being sold out there is not helping at all.
Come Nyko with their uber cool guitar called the "Front man" unveiled at CES. This guitar is compatible on both Rock Band and GHIII by flicking a switch on its USB dongle. The dongle looks ugly though - might even be bigger than Rock Band's. GHIII's dongle is still my favourite.
Anyway, the guitar is based on the GHIII design with added effects switch for Rock Band play. Everything else is there as you are used to.

CES08: PSP in 2008
1up interviewed Sony's PSP senior product manager, John Koller, on the future of PSP in 2008. They discussed a lot of interesting subjects on the future of the PSP and it seems like PSP owners will be getting mega content this year on both software and hardware. You can go to the page directly to read the interview but we're nice people here so we've summarised the most important things below.
- Skype for PSP will probably come end of January via a firmware update
- Sony wants to expand the PSP's social communication area
- PSP 2000 will get lots of hardware support in terms of accessories
- Remote play will play a huge role in 2008
- PC Store will see a huge support for PSP contents
- PSP will get more casual games
- Sony is bringing UMD to a cheaper, more affordable prices

CES08: Skype on PSP
Love yourself some Skype? Wish it was implemented in your gaming device? Well, your wish has come true as it has been confirmed (and somehow leaked) at CES that the PSP will support Skype for the PSP.
Through a firmware update, Skype will be available on the PSP's XMB directly. Your contacts will be downloaded to your PSP's Skype. Just like Skype on PC and portable devices, it works via a wireless hostspot and connects to your Skype contacts. As usual, Skype credits are needed to make calls to landline and mobile phones. But, we've got our mobile phones for that.
This is actually quiet interesting - but I haven't used my Skype account for awhile. What I'm looking for is Gtalk on PSP. What about you guys?

CES08: Microsoft's Keynote
Microsoft announced at CES earlier this week that the British Telecom will be the first company to use the Xbox 360 as a set up box, which now they claim that this makes the 360 the entertainment centre they envision. This was mentioned at Microsoft's Keynote speech at Las Vegas.
Also on stage was Slash performing 'Welcome to the Jungle' on Guitar Hero III.
UTIII 3rd Person Mod
I've always wondered when mods will start to pour out for the PS3 version of UTIII. And well, now a first user-released UTIII mod is here and it changes your FPS to a 3rd person. Not a big fan of FPS because it makes you feel nauseous but you want to play UTIII? Well, here's your wish come true! Click here to download the mod and instructions on how to install it on your PS3.

CES08: SCIV feels the force
I'm sure some of you have heard this news by now but it's still good news! See, I've always wondered how it would be like to have a lightsaber in Soul Calibur. And guess what? That question will be answered soon enough with the release of Soul Calibur IV.
Yes, you heard that right. Two Star Wars characters will be included in the PS3 and xbox360 versions of Soul Calibur IV. Darth Vader will appear in the PS3 version while Yoda in the 360. And apparently, they might also have downloadable characters via DLC in the future. So, look forward into new characters to be included in SCIV after its release.
Now, here's something I want to share with you. A funny short video on Darth Vader.

New Islamic Calendar
Just came back from work after an afternoon meeting. Didn't have the time to create any graphics because I wanted to post this wish on time. So happy new Hijrah year (is that even correct?). Take care. Don't forget to pray.

Racing to Reality
Wanna be a real racer? Well, turns out Gran Turismo is closer to real life racing than a lot of us gamers would've expected. F1 racers are making use of our favourite racing simulator Gran Turismo to learn tracks such as the layout and break markers, "the points where you must start killing speed to take an upcoming corner".
Here's another paragraph from the source site:
Apparently GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi clocked over 1,000 laps on a famous German track and then had a go at it in real life. In his first 12 laps he was driving at 90% capacity and after a few more he was clocking times that rivaled that of the pack.Incredible how games are turning to a true simulator huh? Maybe I should try that Ferrari and then get one for myself just to test if it's true.
Read the rest here.

BCG event a success!
The Brunei Cyber Games (BCG) held its finals yesterday at the International Convention Center (ICC) since it first opened to the public on Friday.
The games featured for the competition were Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) and Guitar Hero III, which were all played on the PlayStation 2. Finalists were put to the test as crowds began to gather around to support and cheered for their favorite player.
However, not all everything went as smoothly, things got out control as the finalists for the PES lost to a 5 nil loss which later broke into a scuffle with one of the audience members.
As the situation dissipated, the event carried on without any incident and things began to turn back to the normal jeers and cheers.
Despite, that one single snag, the BCG received a lot of positive reception from the public and was relatively a success. In a late announcement, the next BCG will be held again this April.
