Back On The Web
Wow, funny how you depend on the internet these days. Having the internet down is so uncool. Heck, a lot of people were complaining in the paper on how TelBru is not prepared on this matter. Could it be the fact that they have reduced their monthly fee that a lot of people have registered that was making us, the current users, feel the pain of no connection with the world? That's not good. There were a lot of news to read and post in the past few days to have lost the ability to see the world on our beautiful computer screen. One, ofcourse, being the new PS-Store look, fast and awesome. You should update your PS3 now and check it out.
On another note, GTAIV is coming very soon. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Looks like life will take on a major halt for the next few months. If you have an X360 and a PS3, which one will you get?
Anyway, I'll be back with news once I have the chance to write.

BCG event a success!
The Brunei Cyber Games (BCG) held its finals yesterday at the International Convention Center (ICC) since it first opened to the public on Friday.
The games featured for the competition were Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) and Guitar Hero III, which were all played on the PlayStation 2. Finalists were put to the test as crowds began to gather around to support and cheered for their favorite player.
However, not all everything went as smoothly, things got out control as the finalists for the PES lost to a 5 nil loss which later broke into a scuffle with one of the audience members.
As the situation dissipated, the event carried on without any incident and things began to turn back to the normal jeers and cheers.
Despite, that one single snag, the BCG received a lot of positive reception from the public and was relatively a success. In a late announcement, the next BCG will be held again this April.
For more information about the winners during the event, you can visit ranoadidas.com

Bru_Gamer showcase ROCKBAND at ICC
The guys at Bru_gamer showcased Rockband yet again at the ICC in conjunction with the BCG to promote their stance on original games as well as the game itself, and I was there lucky enough to get some real close-up pictures of the said items, I could safely say, Rockband will definitely rock your world!
But seriously, check out some of these pics at my gallery and you will get the idea.

Rocking at ICC
Today's BCG event was fun but I will write about it tomorrow. For now, I'll leave you guys with some photos of this afternoon. They're not my usual though. Something was wrong with my shutter button so I couldn't really take proper shots. Plus, I decided not to use flash for fear of bothering the participants. Wouldn't want to piss them off now would we? Enjoy!
PS: These are only of the Guitar Hero III tournament. I didn't get there on time to see the PES2008 event.
See the rest of the photos at the following album.

More BCG Stuff
Just a short update to BCG's event this weekend in case people are still asking. I've managed to ask Rano earlier to confirm a few things but most are stated in the participant's handout after you've registered at the booth. The Guitar Hero III competition will be on Pro-Face off set on Medium difficulty for all participants. The finals, which will be held on Sunday, will see participants competing on Hard difficulty.
So get those fingers ready and prepared if you want to make it to the end. Also, don't forget your Guitar. You might want to come early in case there is room for testing.
I also found out from Rano, and this has been confirmed by Brunei_gamer, that BruGamer.com will be showcasing Rock Band again at the BCG event at ICC, Sunday. So if you are interested, drop by and check it out. Mr Syaf reporting to you sorta live in the middle of the night.

BCG Tourney Preparations
The Brunei Cyber Games are prepared for tomorrow's video games competitions at the International Convention Centre. With tons of big screen televisions sponsored by Phillips and the still so popular Sony PlayStation 2, participants should be confident enough that their time at the tournament won't be an unfair game. What's most important is that all systems and T.V.s have been tested and are ready to go.
During the registration period at ICC this afternoon, we saw a lot of people gathering around the booth. From students to adults, a lot of people were seen signing up for the PES2008 and Guitar Hero III tournaments. It's amazing to see such number of support from the public. Even parents of students were seen encouraging their kids to participate, paying for their entrant fees.
From BCG Tournament |
Today's the last day of registration but RanoAdidas.com has posted that registration will still be open tomorrow (Fri) and Saturday, convenient for those living far away from Bandar.
From BCG Tournament |
This BCG event will be held at ICC from 9am through 7pm on both Fridays and Saturdays, with Guitar Hero III tournaments starting in the afternoon at 4pm. Finals will be held on Sunday, January 6th, 2007, from 9.30am onwards, starting with the knock-out stages in the morning and afternoon.
For more information on the time please visit the official site.

PES2008 and GHIII Competitions
The gaming community in this country is getting more and more recognised. With this afternoon's event on the first ever xbox 360 meet, hopefully more people will be able to understand how mature the gaming industry has become and not just refer to it as a "kid's thing".
Next week, another gaming event will be held at ICC, this time focussing more towards competition than a showcase. Competitions are open to the public which include PES2008 tournament and the ever increasingly popular Guitar Hero III. Registration was held the past three days but if you are still interested in joining, registration is still open on the 2nd and 3rd of January at ICC from 10am to 5pm.
The event is organised by ranoadidas.com and Sunlit, and knowing the experience of Rano, it should be pretty well prepared.
For more information, visit the website.

The First Xbox360 Meet in Brunei
It’s amazing to see support from the community from time to time. This is especially true during the recent 1st Xbox360 Gamers Meet held at the Mall in West Street CafĂ© today.
In another turn of events, as the last of the Guitar Heroes receives their prizes, the organizers showcased another glimpse of the future by unveiling Rock Band for the first time in public. Songs that were played were Weezer’s Buddy Holly and The Knack’s My Sharona. The audiences were ecstatic, even as far as humming to the tune.
This event was the first of its kind outside the usual Winning Eleven Tournaments which has been going around for awhile now. Overall, the event was well received and quite commendable for a first time.
The purpose for such meeting was to create awareness of an Xbox360 community in
Amongst the schedule events for the day included demos of Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which showcases what the Xbox360 does best, playing together in multiplayer.
With more encouragement from the gaming community, events such as this will only get better and hopefully have enough variety to pull off something on a grander scale. Let this be the start to something great!
For more info about the event here.

X360 Gathering, GH3 Tourney
I'm pretty much in a holiday mood at the moment. Been busy going here and there, spending time with my wife, family and friends - which is why there is lacking news and posts from me and more from Syazwan. New years is coming and there really isn't much news left. Just thought I'd let you guys know that there is an xbox 360 gathering at The Mall this coming Sunday from 1.00pm - 5.30pm. A mini Guitar Hero 3 tournament will be held in between but limited to 16 participants only. Check it out for fun!
Hopefully, I'll be free to go and see the gathering. That's my family day out but we'll try to report what we can.
