Gran Turismo Details

Some stuff about Gran Turismo 5 for those of you who are looking forward to the title. The following is a translation of a GT5 interview at Famitsu I got from NeoGaf forum.

  1. GT:HD Concept will be removed from the PSN network when Prolouge is released
  2. GT Prolouge will be Home compatible
  3. There will be a "My Page" screen selectable from the title. Having given the online race component a lot of thought, the "My Page" will store your friends list, even calender, ranking etc. The online component will try to build an online community like social networking sites like "My Space"
  4. While the game is called "Grand Turisimo Prologue" it will be less like an arcade mode but closer to a simplified version of "Grand Turismo Mode" in the other GT games; making money, buying cars, etc.
  5. It will be a Grand Turismo "World". In the final version they would like to have people be able to walk around a town and look at cars. They will creating each detail of the city as well as the car. Other then Tokyo they will have scenic views like natural environments as well.
  6. GT:Prologue will have 40 cars and 4 race tracks (8 different configurations). Including tracks not seen before.
  7. When asked about downloadable content, he responds "not right now, but likely later on". When asked if the "Grand Turismo Award" winners from the 2006 SEMA shown in Las Vegas will be available; tuned 1960 Corvette and HKS CT230R Yamauchi responds, "I think one of the them. "
  8. Cockpit view will be available. If you are using the steering wheel you can look around in the cockpit using the d-pad. For instance, it the Ferrari F430 you can appreciate the shine off the carbon fiber and the quality of the black leather seats. You can tell the quality difference in the leather of the Ferrari versus other cars.
  9. In Grand Turismo 5 you will be able to fully customize the interior.
  10. Depending on which car you drive your clothing will be different. Different helmet designs and other details that relate to the car manufacter.
  11. There will be 16-cars on track for a full grid race. At present they are trying to figure out how many people can play against each other simultaneously online. For online, that number may shrink to 12.
  12. B-spec Mode is planned for GT5, it is unclear if it will make GTP.
  13. Grand Turismo Prologue save data will be usable in Grand Turismo 5; including any money you earn in GT:P will be transfered to GT5.
Now this I can't wait. Get yourself a PS3 now or start saving if you haven't!

No longer Strangled

Remember how Stranglehold was going to go region-protected? Well, now they've changed their minds. The game will ship region-free for their ps3 version of the game after endless complaints from consumers (that's you guys). Looks like they do listen to us these days.

From Quake and Doom comes Rage

I don't know what's wrong with gamespot today. I've been trying to watch this video of Idtech's debut engine and I only get half of it streamed. I wanted to watch it fully before I embed it here but anyway, I hope you guys have a better luck.

Those people in id, the makers of doom and quake, showed off a tech demo called id tech 5 through their newly debuted game called Rage. Rage is currently designed simultaneously for PC, Mac, 360 and the PS3 and it will use id's second generation of 'Megatexture' technology - which will eat up at least 20gigs of uncompressed texture. Thus, it is obvious that it will take up two dvds on all platforms except ofcourse for the blu-ray in the PS3.

The game will apparently boast 20hours of gameplay, id style, in the one player campaign mode. Id is also aiming at a Teen rating game compared to their Doom and Quake series.

The game will be set on future Earth after a comet heavily hits the planet and brings with it (guess what?) enemy monsters. So have fun fragging those.

Dynasty Warriors 6 Trailer

I've never really played Dynasty Warriors. Wait, that's a lie. Back in the PS2 days, I think I've played it once, not knowing what it was really about. I think that was Dynasty Warriors.

In any case, I've never touched one since, if 'since' ever was there in the first place. But I must say that the Dynasty Warriors 6 trailer intrigues me. Fighting endless amount of enemies in a battlefield looks kind of fun but can get old. Then again, the amount of enemies you get on today's console per screen differ far more than it used to be. Imagine seeing thousands of enemies on screen - how overwhelming is that?

Check out the trailer below.
