I never liked the Video Game Awards. Most of the nominees that gets pick just don't deserve to be nominated. Plus, to have a video game awards and having the fans vote it is just plain ridiculous. Movie and music awards are fine because it is easy for the audience to get to them since movie tickets are cheap and music can be listened to for free on the radio if not bought. Video games are expensive, and to truly appreciate a game, you need to play through the whole thing (unless it is bad, then it wouldn't make it as a nominee). Video games take hours or days to finish and find out how great it can be. One game doesn't mean that everyone played it but rather sometimes only a few can appreciate it. But then, these are just my opinion.
Putting that aside, I must say that this year's VGA isn't too bad. At least the nominees are decent, although I have to say that some don't even deserve to be in. Also, some awards just sound stupid - like 'Best Cyber Vixen of the Year' and... oh okay, so that's the only one that I can put a finger on. But then again, this award can lead to more better looking cyber vixens... interesting...
Anyway, I'll lay out the results of VGA below. Here are some games worth mentioning though. Props to RE4 for being the best game of the year. I couldn't agree more. Katamari also ran with an award. I'm happy for that. Burnout left with an award and so did the PSP. But one thing is missing, Shadow of the Colossus. They should have something like Best Artistic Game Award or something... too bad.
